Information about legalization
Quite often, Dutch citizens and business persons require that certain documents were legalized by the consular section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of the Netherlands so that they can be accepted in Ukraine. Legalization confirms that a document was issued by someone with the authority to issue it and that the signatures it bears are genuine.
Before submitting a document for legalization to the Embassy of Ukraine it needs to be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands which is responsible for legalizing Dutch documents for use abroad. The applicant must have arranged any prior legalizations that may be necessary. For example, a translation produced by a sworn translator must be legalized by the district court, then by the Ministry of Justice before proceeding finally to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Some Dutch documents, for instance certificates from the register of birth, deaths and marriages and other documents issued by Dutch municipalities can be legalized immediately by the Legalization Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (contact information follows). Please, be advised to contact the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for information regarding the legalization chain required before a document can be legalized by the mentioned Ministry.
Authentication by the Ukrainian Consular Office
